The Germond Family Murders: A Forensic Conclusion to a Cold Case - Paperback
by Vincent Cookingham (Author)
This is a true story of the multiple murder of a poor dairy farm family during the depression in upstate New York. The case went unsolved for 90 years. This awful crime has been reported worldwide throughout the years and has been the focus of a slew of amateur detectives over the years. It is routinely retold in annual newspaper articles promoting endless hypothetical theories, solutions and motives. Its memory has survived in crime mythology in the same manner as the "Jack The Ripper" case. By pure coincidence, I am the only professional with an extensive forensic background to have ever investigated this case and recovered whatever retained evidence remains. It was necessary to obtain a court order for all this evidence and receive the cooperation of District Attorney William Grady and other staff of the Dutchess County New York government.
But for the most incredible of coincidences in criminal investigatory history, the case would have remained unsolved. This is the true story of that solution 90 years later and the truly incredible coincidence that provided that solution.
