My husband and I have been customers of Bank of America for many years. If we had enough money to change banks we would. But since BofA is always charging us fees for something or other, we can't afford to change. Nice Catch-22 they have going there. They randomly hold checks we deposit, even long after the money has been taken from the bank account of the checkwriter. They will mark a check or payment as cleared, then it disappears from our statement when we have a big bill coming through, so we conveniently have an overdraft fee, then it suddenly reappears a day or two later. Once we had a bill due to the IRS, and they put a levy on our bank account. We didn't know the levy was happening because our PO Box mail got put into the wrong box, and the bank knew it was happening well ahead of time, but decided not to inform us it was going to happen until several days after it happened. Of course this caused about 9 checks and payments to bounce, so we got charged 35 dollars nine times! Not to mention all the returned check fees we got charged by our creditors. We spoke to the IRS and worked out the problem, and they ordered Bank of America to restore our original money, but they did not return the 9 overdraft charges. It could have all been prevented had they notified us of the levy right away, instead of waiting until after the levy took effect, but then they wouldn't have made money off of us.
