My experience as an employee at EDS

For several years, I was an employee of EDS. For the most part, everyone starts out in the same boat. Whether you have a bachelor's or a masters degree, in general, you are started out as a Business Analyst making the lowest of the payscale. They then recruit you to other opportunities in the company from that pool. Typically, you stay a business analyst for at least six months or perhaps up to a year. It can be frustrating if you are eager to move up or its not the job you wanted, but on the other hand you are introduced to all aspects of the department and everyone is on a level playing field. Of course, they may have something already in mind based on your prior experiences but most people have the chance to come with a clean slate more or less. Employees are valued with recognition of their birthdays and anniversaries at EDS in a weekly time out celebration. Ross Perot's heritage has not been forgotten. Once, our team was in charge of getting the weekly dessert and I was the one who went to the store. I paid for the cake and then would be reimbursed by my boss. The bill came to $19 and some cents. I was given an envelope by my boss. It contained a $20 bill and in the corner it said OWE .07. I indeed was in arears to the company seven pennies because it was better to pay me in a twenty than to cut me a check for the 19.93 and be even. Yes, I paid back the .07 but would have been written up for it if i didn't. When you rise out of the level of Business Analyst, you can be transfered to another department in the same building, or can even go overseas. There is a lot of opportunity in this company if you are willing to "pay your dues".
