I worked at whole foods market in dallas and arlington for 4.5 years. after about 3 years i was forced to move from dallas, so i transferred to the arlington store. after about 11 months there, we got a new store manager. right off the bat, she started harassing me. in case you don't know, whole foods is a natural foods grocery store which also sold vitamins. sometime around the end of december 2004, i took some supplements that they were giving out samples of. a couple hours later, i passed out at my register ( i was a cashier at the time). well, they sent me home, without even calling an ambulance, and luckily someone gave me a ride home. that happened to be my third "absence" in a month, and if you get 3 in a month, you get written up. my store manager decided to write me up for that "absence" since it was "not my choice to take the pills". well they hadn't made anyone else pass out, so how was i to know they would do that to me? anyway, that put me on final warning, so for the next 6 months, i fretted about my job. right around the time i was taken off final warning, my store manager told me i had had a "customer complaint" (i was still cashiering), and they needed to move me to a different department. she would not tell me the details of the complaint, as she said that "another manager had handled it", and he had just transferred to another store, how convenient for her. anyway she gave me the choice of working behind the prepared foods, or working as a stocker in the grocery department, about half behind the scenes, half on the floor. i chose grocery. i thought, fine, i'm sick of being a cashier anyway, this will be something new. it was great for the first month, for the next 3 months, on the exact same date every month, she had my direct manager write me up for nonsense reasons, not even reasons really, stuff like, "not working hard enough" nothing specific at all, and each month, each write up would say the exact same thing. i was fired october 13th 2005. and i was also put on "no rehire" status.
i am not sure how much this has to do with all of that, but i was also denied unemployment benefits when i applied.
so that is my story with whole foods, that is just the worst part of the time i worked there, there were many other problems in the 3 years previous to working at the arlington location.
